DTN Weekly DDG Price Steady on Average

MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) — The DTN spot price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Sept. 11 was $143 per ton on average, unchanged versus one week ago.
DDG prices were unchanged on average for the week, with cash soybean meal and cash corn prices steady for the most part. With ethanol plant production higher again last week, there is plenty of DDG to cover spot demand. The DTN National Average Corn Index is unchanged versus one week ago.
Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Sep 11 was 0.954%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 49.70% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.30 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $6.06.

U.S. Grains Council, in its weekly distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) September export market prices report, showed as of Sept. 11, CIF NOLA barge price was up $3 at $215 metric ton (mt); FOB vessel Gulf price was up $2 at $227 mt; rail delivered PNW was steady at $242; and rail delivered to California was up $1 at $233 mt. Low water restrictions set by the USCG remain in place on the Lower Mississippi River as the river is on a slow fall, with Memphis at -4.49 below zero gauge.
The Energy Information Administration reported on Wednesday that for the week ending Sep. 5, overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.105 million bpd, up 30,000 bpd versus last week and 25,000 bpd, or 2.3% higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.097 million bpd was 19,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.047 million bpd, up 26,000 bpd versus last week and 28,000 bpd, or 2.7% higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.038 million bpd was 20,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
