DTN Weekly Average DDG Price Higher

MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) — The DTN spot price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Nov. 6 was $149 per ton on average, up $3 versus one week ago.

DDG prices were mixed but higher on average for the week, while soybean meal prices pushed higher again this week. Traders noted spot demand has picked up as well. As for cash corn, the DTN National Average Corn Index was down 3 cents versus one week ago.

Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Nov. 6 was 0.973%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 47.65% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.52 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $6.58.

U.S. Grains Council, in its weekly distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) export market prices report, showed November prices as of Nov.6: CIF NOLA barge price was up $3 at $210 metric ton (mt); FOB vessel Gulf price was steady at $230 mt; rail delivered PNW was up $6 at $247; and rail delivered to California was down $2 at $232 mt.

The Energy Information Administration reported on Wednesday for the week ended Oct. 31, overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.123 million barrels per day (bpd), up 32,000 bpd versus last week and 18,000 bpd, or 1.6%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.1 million bpd was 23,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.061 million bpd, up 25,000 bpd versus last week and 19,000 bpd, or 1.8% higher than in the same week last year. In the Midwest, four-week average output at 1.043 million bpd was 27,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. The production volume last week was the highest week on record.
