DTN Weekly DDG Average Price Slightly Lower
DTN's weekly average spot price for domestic distillers dried grains is down $1 versus one week ago.
MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) — The DTN price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Aug. 15 was down $1 on average at $141 per ton versus one week ago. DDG prices overall were mixed and prices were under pressure once again from the weaker cash soybean meal prices. Another uptick in plant production also added pressure as demand has been slow. The DTN National Average Corn Index was down 5 cents versus one week ago.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.072 million barrels per day (bpd) in the week ended Aug. 9, the Energy Information Administration reports, up 5,000 bpd week-on-week and 3,000 bpd, or 0.3%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.086 million bpd was 23,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.014 million bpd, up 6,000 bpd week-on-week and 2,000 bpd, or 0.2%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.025 million bpd was 25,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Aug. 15 was 1.05%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 45.79% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.22 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $6.48.
U.S. Grains Council in its weekly DDGS export market prices report showed as of Aug. 14, CIF NOLA barge price was at $175 per metric ton, down $2 versus one week ago and FOB vessel Gulf price was at $185, down $1; rail delivered PNW was down $4 at $218, and rail delivered to California was down $3 at $220 per metric ton.
