DTN Weekly DDG Price Lower on Average

DTN's weekly average spot price for domestic distillers dried grains is down $3 versus one week ago.

MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) — The DTN price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended July 18 was down $3 on average at $146 per ton versus one week ago. The lower cash corn price added pressure to DDG prices, along with a slowing of demand and an increase in supplies again this week. The DTN National Average Corn Index was down 8 cents versus one week ago.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.106 million barrels per day (bpd) in the week ended July 12, up 52,000 bpd week-on-week and 36,000 bpd, or 3.3%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.067 million bpd was 14,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.046 million bpd, up 45,000 bpd week-on-week and 38,000 bpd, or 3.6%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.011 million bpd was 19,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.

Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended July 18 was 1.04%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 43.30 and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.41 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $7.10.

U.S. Grains Council in its weekly DDGS export market prices report showed July 17 CIF NOLA barge price was at $194 per metric ton, down $3 from one week ago and FOB vessel Gulf price was at $194, down $2, rail delivered PNW was down 15 cents at $216 and rail delivered to California was down 7 cents at $217 per metric ton.
