DTN Weekly DDG Price Lower on Average

DTN's weekly average spot price for domestic distillers dried grains is down $2 on average versus one week ago.

MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) — The DTN price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended June 27 was down $2 on average versus one week ago at $157 per ton. It was another rough week for the cash corn price which added pressure to DDG prices, along with cheaper competing feed prices as well. The DTN National Average Corn Index was down 22 cents versus one week ago.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that overall ethanol production in the United States for the week ended June 21 averaged 1.043 million barrels per day (bpd), down 14,000 bpd week-on-week and 9,000 bpd, or 0.9%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.049 million bpd was 10,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 987,000 bpd, down 11,000 bpd week-on-week and 4,000 bpd, or 0.4%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 991,000 bpd was 10,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.

Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended June 27 was 1.06%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 43.48 and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.81 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $7.60.

U.S. Grains Council in its weekly DDGS export market prices report showed June 12 CIF NOLA barge price was at $193 per metric ton, down $2 from last week and FOB vessel Gulf price was at $195, down $4 from last week. Rail delivered PNW was up 2 cents at $234 and rail delivered to California was up 4 cents at $233 per metric ton.
