DTN Weekly DDG Price Slightly Higher on Average

DTN's weekly average spot price for domestic distillers dried grains is higher versus one week ago.

MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) — The DTN price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Dec. 19 was $1 higher on average at $156 per ton versus one week ago. DDG prices were mixed but slightly higher for the week, still coming under pressure from cheaper soybean meal. The DTN National Average Corn Index was down 3 cents versus one week ago.

Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended Dec. 19 was 0.99%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 54.91% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.78 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $5.98. 

U.S. Grains Council in its weekly distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) export market prices report showed as of Dec. 18, January CIF NOLA barge price was up $9 at $185 metric ton (mt); FOB vessel Gulf price was up $5 at $192 mt; rail delivered PNW was steady at $213; and rail delivered to California was unchanged at $224 mt.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.103 million bpd in the week ended Dec. 13, up 25,000 bpd week-on-week and 32,000 bpd, or 2.9% higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.093 million bpd was 35,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.045 million bpd, up 30,000 bpd week-on-week and 36,000 bpd, or 3.4% higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.031 million bpd was 33,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
