DTN Weekly DDG Price Slightly Higher on Average

MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) — The average DTN spot price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended April 9 was $183 per ton on average, slightly higher versus one week ago.
DDG prices were mostly steady but slightly higher on average for the week, while cash corn was lower and soybean meal prices were higher. Soybean meal prices were up $2.40 versus one week ago. As for cash corn, the DTN National Average Corn Index was down 7 cents versus one week ago.
Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended April 9 was 1.154%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 57.62% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $6.78 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $6.69.
U.S. Grains and Bioproducts Council, in its weekly distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) export market prices report, showed these May prices as of April 9: CIF NOLA barge price was up $8 at $257 metric ton (mt) versus on week ago; FOB vessel Gulf price was down $4 at $266 mt; rail delivered PNW was up $15 at $284; and rail delivered to California was up $14 at $277 mt.
Ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.116 million barrels per day (bpd) in the week ended April 3, the Energy Information Administration reported on Wednesday. That’s up 41,000 bpd week-on-week and 104,000 bpd, or 9.3%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.1 million bpd was 63,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.065 million bpd, up 41,000 bpd week-on-week and 110,000 bpd, or 10.3%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.046 million bpd was 63,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
