EPA has issued an emergency fuel waiver for Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin to last the first 20 days of August.
OAKHURST, N.J. (DTN) — The Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday, July 31, issued an emergency fuel waiver allowing for the sale of gasoline with Reid Vapor Pressure of 9.0 psi from Thursday, Aug. 1, through Aug. 20 in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
The waiver, an effort “to minimize or prevent disruptions,” is in response to a fuel supply emergency caused by a power outage and resulting emergency shutdown of the ExxonMobil Joliet refinery when tornadoes touched down in and around the Chicago, Illinois area on July 15.
