Most Fertilizer Prices Now Lower

Retail fertilizer prices are mostly lower for the third week of December 2024. Six of the eight major fertilizers were lower looking back a month, while the remaining two were slightly higher. None of these nutrients had a sizable price increase or decrease. DTN designates a significant move as anything 5% or more.

OMAHA (DTN) — Retail fertilizer prices tracked by DTN for the third week of December 2024 show most fertilizers are slightly lower than a month ago.

Six fertilizers logged lower prices, while two are higher. As has been the case in recent weeks, no fertilizer had a sizeable price increase or decline. DTN designates a significant move as anything 5% or more.

The six slightly lower fertilizers are DAP which had an average price of $738/ton, MAP $810/ton, potash $442/ton, urea $488/ton, UAN28 $320/ton and anhydrous $363/ton.

Two fertilizers were slightly more expensive than a month ago. 10-34-0 had an average price of $613/ton while anhydrous was at $721/ton looking back to the prior month.

On a price per pound of nitrogen basis, the average urea price was $0.53/lb.N, anhydrous $0.44/lb.N, UAN28 $0.57/lb.N and UAN32 $0.57/lb.N.

Two fertilizers are now higher in price compared to one year ago. Both DAP and 10-34-0 are 2% more expensive looking back to last year.

The remaining six fertilizers are lower. MAP is 1% lower, UAN28 is 6% less expensive, urea is 9% lower, UAN32 is 10% less expensive, anhydrous is 11% lower and anhydrous 15% less expensive compared to last year.
