DOL: Initial Jobless Claims at 237,000
VIENNA (DTN) — The advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial U.S. unemployment claims was 237,000 in the week ending August 30, up 8,000 from the previous week’s level, which was left unrevised at 229,000, the Department of Labor reported this morning. The four-week moving average was 231,000, an increase of 2,500 from the previous week’s unrevised average of 228,500.
DOL reported the advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate at 1.3% for the week ending August 23, unchanged from the previous week’s unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week of August 23 was 1,940,000, down 4,000 from previous week’s revised level.
