Filing: Valero Reports Flare at Corpus Christi West Plant

HOUSTON, TX (DTN) — Valero reported an emission event at its 325,000 bpd Corpus Christi refinery at the West Plant, as elevated emissions were noted during a test of the Heavy Oil Cracker cooling tower water, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

“Upstream equipment is being surveyed in order to identify the source of the cooling water contamination. Once identified, the source will be isolated for repair,” Valero reported.

The emission event started on Sunday September 21 at 8:52 a.m. CST and ended on Monday (9/22) at 8:52 a.m. CST.

Confirmation from the company was not available due to its policy of not commenting on production issues.
