Front Sweeping Through US Next Couple of Days
A front will sweep through the country with scattered showers and some limited areas of heavy rain through Wednesday. Another system will move through the West and Northern Plains later this week and weekend.
In the Midwest, a front moved into the west on Sunday and brought some areas of rain. The front will continue eastward through the region Monday and Tuesday. Some heavier rain will be possible near the Ohio River, but drought remains an issue for a lot of areas.
In the Northern Plains, a system moved through the region over the weekend with areas of heavy rain. Drier weather is likely most of this week, but another system is likely to move through this weekend and could bring more areas of heavier rainfall as well.
In the Central and Southern Plains, scattered showers fell over northern areas as a front moved into the region. The front continues south for Monday and Tuesday with scattered showers as well. Spotty showers may occur for the rest of the week, but most areas should stay dry after the front passes through. A front will move into the region this weekend and could bring another few rounds of rain to the region into next week.
In the Delta, it was largely dry over the weekend, though some showers moved north off of the Gulf. A front will sweep through the region Monday and Tuesday with scattered showers as well, but drought continues to be an issue for much of the region.
In the Southeast, some showers moved north from the Gulf over the weekend and will be in place until a front sweeps through on Tuesday and Wednesday. Though some heavy rain will be possible in the Tennessee Valley, most areas will see light to moderate rain. Drought continues to be a growing issue in the region.
In the Western U.S., a system moved through northern areas over the weekend and brought areas of heavy precipitation and some mountain snow. The next few days are likely to be dry, but remnant moisture from Hurricane Priscilla and a building trough off the West Coast will spread showers into the region for Thursday through the weekend. Some limited benefit to drought is occurring with the recent and forecast rainfall, but drought is very deep in a lot of the region and will need a lot of time and heavy precipitation to reverse.
