Tropical Impacts Likely This Week

A tropical system is becoming more likely for the Atlantic Coast, with the Carolinas expected to see the biggest impacts.

Today’s Weather Highlights:

– A few lingering showers and storms possible across Georgia, Florida, and the Carolinas.

– Most areas are expected to be drier.

– Temperatures: 2-6 degrees below normal for most, near normal along the Gulf Coast.

Forecast Confidence: High

Temperatures are expected to verify for most areas, outside of any areas affected directly by precipitation.

Tomorrow’s Weather Highlights:

– More lingering activity once again possible across the Carolinas and the immediate Atlantic Coast states.

– Shower and storm activity may increase later in the day across Florida as a tropical disturbance begins to lift into the Bahamas.

– Most other areas are likely to be dry.

– Temperatures: 2-6 degrees above normal for most, 2-5 degrees below normal across the Atlantic coast.

Forecast Confidence: Medium-High

Temperatures are expected to verify for most areas, outside of any areas affected directly by precipitation.

3-5 DAY EXTENDED OUTLOOK:

Monday:

– Scattered showers becoming possible along the immediate Atlantic coast early, becoming widespread and heavier through the day.

– Precipitation amounts may be highly dependent on the positioning of the potential tropical system lifting northward from the Bahamas.

– Potential tropical landfall is possible in the Carolinas later in the evening or perhaps holding off until Tuesday, and areas of heavy rain and flooding are possible.

– Temperatures: 3-5 degrees above normal for all.

Tuesday:

– Scattered rain/storms as the remnant tropical low moves inland and into the Tennessee Valley.

– Continued risk for heavy rain and flooding into portions of the northern Deep South and Carolinas as impacts from a tropical low may continue.

– Temperatures: 4-9 degrees below normal across the Carolinas and Georgia,  within 5 degrees of normal elsewhere.

Wednesday:

– Scattered rain/storms remain possible across Georgia and  the Carolinas from tropical low remnants

– Mostly dry elsewhere aside from localized showers and weak thunderstorms.

– Temperatures: 4-10 degrees below normal across Georgia and the Carolinas, within 5 degrees of normal elsewhere.
