Tropical Strom Imelda Impacts Expected

Tropical Storm Imelda is not expected to make landfall, but elevated breezes, showers, and thunderstorms are expected along the Atlantic Coast early in the week.

Today’s Weather Highlights:

– Tropical Storm Imelda will approach the Carolina coast. While landfall is not out of the question, the current expectation is for the storm to remain just offshore. Any landfall would likely occur early Tuesday, though outer band reach the area early Monday.

– Heavy precipitation, multiple rounds of thunderstorms, and strong breezes will be likely across much of the Carolinas and Georgia.

– Mostly dry elsewhere aside from a few stray showers and weak thunderstorms.

– Temperatures: 3-5 degrees above normal for most, 3-7 degrees below normal across eastern Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas.

Forecast Confidence: High

Temperatures are expected to verify for most areas, outside of any areas affected directly by precipitation.

Tomorrow’s Weather Highlights:

– Scattered rain/storms likely for the Carolinas and Georgia as the remnants of Tropical Storm Imelda stall offshore.

– Mostly dry conditions persist for most other areas.

– Temperatures: 4-9 degrees below normal across the Carolinas and Georgia,  within 5 degrees of normal elsewhere.

Forecast Confidence: Medium-High

Temperatures are expected to verify for most areas, outside of any areas affected directly by precipitation.
