U.S. To Revamp Road User Portal After Multiple Complaints
SECAUCUS, NJ (DTN) – U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that the whistleblower portal for American road users is being revamped following multiple complaints about its malfunction.
Since its launch in 2016, the National Consumer Complaint Database has seen feedback, particularly from truck drivers, that it was difficult to use, unresponsive and ineffective at addressing issues like freight fraud, coercion and broker abuse.
Duffy said in a statement Wednesday (9/24) the portal will be fixed to make it more efficient, referring to the process as an “overdue tech upgrade”.
The revamp will start with the database’s Pro-Trucker Package, which is focused on improving working conditions for truck drivers.
The update will streamline the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s response to whistleblower reports that will include, for the first time, complaints against property brokers, Duffy said.
