Widespread Above Normal Temperatures
Rising temperatures continue today, with widespread anomalies of 15-25 degrees expected.
General Overview: A POTENT SERIES OF SYSTEMS WILL PROLONG RAIN AND SEVERE STORM THREATS OVER THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN US THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK.
EAST: Areas of rain and storms will spread from the Mid Mississippi Valley to the northeast over the next several days as multiple areas of low-pressure push north of the region. Severe thunderstorms will become likely each day across these areas, although drier conditions are expected to briefly return on Friday. High-pressure will give way to mostly dry weather across the southeast through the end of the week. A secondary system could bring rain chances across the majority of the Eastern US this weekend, with high-pressure bringing drier conditions into early next week.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Above normal temperatures ahead of the system, 6-12F above average.
-Days 4-6: Turning sharply colder behind the cold front, 6-12F below normal.
-Days 7-10: Moderating back to near or slightly above normal.
CENTRAL: Rain and storms will continue over the southern and central plains through today, with a brief dry out tomorrow. Strong to severe storms are anticipated from northern TX and into the Midwest. A secondary area of low-pressure and attendant cold front will bring returning rain and thunderstorm chances across the Central Plains and into the Midwest on Friday. Drier conditions should return for most areas this weekend and into next week, although parts of TX/LA may see lingering rain and storms.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Well above normal ahead of the system, 12-18F above average.
-Days 4-6: Turning sharply colder behind the cold front, 6-12F below normal.
-Days 7-10: Moderating closer to normal.
WEST: An unsettled weather pattern will continue across the West through the mid to late week, with periods of precipitation from the Pacific Northwest into the Intermountain West and Rockies. The best chances for heavier precipitation will be across the northern areas, although rain and mountain snow could spread into the Great Basin and Intermountain West on Thursday and Friday.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Near to slightly below normal.
-Days 4-6: Slightly below normal.
-Days 7-10: Trending closer to normal.
TROPICAL: Tropical cyclone activity is not expected during the next 7 days.
