Compared to last week: Weaned steer and heifer calves with at least two rounds
of shots traded mostly 3.00 to 6.00 higher. Unweaned calves with no
vaccinations or only one round traded 10.00 to 15.00 lower, as significant
temperature fluctuations and changing weather conditions continue to negatively
impact calf health and buyer confidence. Not enough comparable sales on
yearling steers or heifers for a market trend but a higher undertone was noted,
with the board trading in the green the last two days. Trading activity was
active on moderate to good buyer demand. Slaughter cows and bulls traded 1.00
higher. Sorghum harvest is wrapping up and recent rains have been beneficial
for recently planted winter wheat.
