Compared to last week the feeder market was stronger with a good quality
offering. Feeder steers 600 lbs and under were 5.00 to 10.00 higher or greater
in several spots with a good supply and strong demand, while the yearling
steers were 3.00 to 8.00 higher with a good supply and strong demand as well.
Feeder heifers 500 lbs and under were SHARPLY HIGHER across all the weight
classes with a good supply and strong demand. Buyers were highly active today
and willing pay premiums for high quality, long weaned, and thinner conditioned
feeders, while discounting the heavier conditioned new crop calves and
increasing the price spread in most weight classes. Slaughter cows were steady
to 2.00 higher with a good supply and slaughter bulls were steady with good
demand.
