Jennifer Carrico

Jennifer Carrico is an Iowa State University graduate with a bachelor's degree in animal science and a minor in journalism. She joined the DTN staff in 2023 as the Senior Livestock Editor.Throughout her journalism career she has covered agriculture in the Midwest for the Iowa Farmer Today, High Plains Journal and Wallaces Farmer, as well as several other publications during her time as a freelance journalist. She has received writing and photography awards from the Livestock Publications Council (LPC) and Agricultural Communications Network (ACN). In 2017 she was honored with the Master Writer Award from ACN. She served as the president of LPC in 2020.Jennifer will use her many years of experience in the livestock industry to cover beef issues in the Cattlelink section of the magazine and the weekly Cattlelink e-newsletter. She lives on her family's beef cattle and crop farm in central Iowa, where her children are the sixth generation to raise cattle there.
